- Shaving is very important to my over all look.
- I feel this way because waxing and other alternatives to shaving is not practical when controlling hair growth. To maintain my look, I must clear some hair from portions of my face and shaving is the most effective way to do this daily.
- During the week day, I need to clean shave a portion of my face and every other day I need to trim my goatee.
- Weekend is no different from the weekday activity as I work 6-7 days a week.
-
- Describe the specific “look” you are trying to achieve in shaving/grooming your face/head. This may be different for the weekday vs. the weekend vs. a special occasion. For each, upload a Google image that depicts the shave/groom “look” you want. How would you describe each “look” in your own words? What specifically do you do to achieve it?- The look i am trying to achieve is a clean appearance while maintaining facial hair with a neatly trimmed goatee. Southern illinois culture intimidates men to always be clean shaven,- I would explain the look I maintain to be a petite goatee, To Achieve it I shave the majority of my face with a standard razor while trimming my facial hair every other day to a respectful length.
I would like to describe this look as a clean professional appearance.- When you compare your end result to the Google images, how close are you to achieving the shave/groom “look” you want? What is working/do you feel you’re able to do really well? What is not working (if anything) or gets in the way of achieving your desired end result?- My end result tends to be on spot with what I am looking for as it is a daily routine.- I feel I am able to do it really well as it is a daily routine and not a complicated style,- What doesn't work is inside of me, sometimes I start with a clean slate and shave my face clean just due to my personal preference that day , sometimes your self esteem leads to a change in appearance.
- Overall, how knowledgeable do you feel about shave/groom techniques and tools? If you could speak with an expert on shaving/grooming, what questions would you ask or want to better understand/learn to do? Why?
-- I feel rather comfortable around shaving tools,- if I could speak to an expert, my questions would be related to past devices that I have not experienced,Things such as a double edge razor, I'd like to ask about better alternatives back in its hay day,as I don't feel it to be a great product. Why would I ask,,, just because it is really not a good product and I can't imagine every person using this product without alternative products coming onto the market.Beginning when you first started shaving, tell the story of any evolution in your desired look/approach, in short chapters. For each chapter: a) give that time in your life a title, b) describe your desired look, c) what inspired it, & d) the tools/techniques you used. I’m particularly interested in what drove any changes (a life event/change, age, significant other, cultural influences, etc.) and how the tools/techniques you used changed accordingly.- - Shave one-i'm 12 and its time to shave my head, trimmers are used to shorten my hair and a razor is used to smooth my head. This style is just a normal style growing up on the reservation as young boys.- early years-working in jack links- they demand hair nets for your head and face, so my daily routine now includes waking up at 3am and adding a razor and soap .... a clean shaved face does not require impractical beard nets.- deer camp-beards never go out of fashion. my look has evolved into full on big foot...i now brush my beard after a shower , while using a comb and scissors to even the beard growth...no shaving allowed, this is just a yearly happening that we try to attend for a week or two .- working in a foreign state-the change of address brought me to the current style, as most employers have demanded my face to be shaved clean along with others of southern illinois, I have been able to respectfully wear a petite goatee while "fitting into the normal" in these small southern towns.my tools include a razor and a trimmer with guards,,, beard trimming tools specifically for your beard are no more than a joke and tend to be petite fragile tools that are impractical in my routine. When we talk about shaving/grooming, do you think primarily about your face/head or also about your body? Why? How do you think of the two similarly or differently? Is “grooming” the right word for your body or would you use another word? Why? Do you use different tools for “grooming” your body or the same tools? Describe specifically what & why?- I think primarily about my face,,, the word Shaving is connected to Face when talking about Men. Men don't shave their body in general practices.- grooming is what you would say to a dog,,,, I would think a series of works would be appropriate--- trimming your chest hairs,,,, or respectful parts as such.- in my case, if I ever choose to wear a watch, or a suit,,, I would Shave my arms,,, not groom or trim,My tool is just a razor when I shave my hands and arms, it works quickly and the mess of hairs is more easy to clean than if i were to use a trimmer. a trimmer would just collect some hairs while spreading many hairs anywhere they may drift,,,while a razor leaves behind a gloopy pile to clean after rinsing.

Thanks for your informative blog. As a reminder, you can answer questions here in the comments section. This helps me know you've responded. I do have some quick follow-up here:
ReplyDelete- Do you do anything different for a special occasion?
- Can you talk more about shaving completely? Why do you say that doesn't work for you?
my style doesn't change for the occasion, i might shorten or let it grow out, but there is no rhyme or reason,
ReplyDeleteas for shaving my face, it would be the same excuse that people master a comb over look, my self esteem is destroyed if my face is naked
