- Give us a “guided tour” of all the shaving/grooming products/tools you have at home (for head & body). First, take a photo of the place/s you keep these items: open the vanity, drawers, etc. It’s ok if it’s messy! Explain why you keep which items where you do. If kept in multiple places, why? What does your inventory say about you & your approach to shaving/grooming?I keep my trimmers in a pouch, jut because it is so much easier than trying to chase down parts in this drawer, that drawer, the shower, on a shelf or,,,where ever pieces may be at.And my razor, after the move, it came out of a box ,into a green tub, onto a shelf in the cupboard,,, it just found a home there as there is no other place it has to be... as seem in the following pictures. My inventory says,,, this is a man who has tried the rest and kept the best, I only have what I need and trust to work.
- Now take out the items you use regularly and take a picture of them together (but zoom in enough that I can see each). For each, name the item & blog on:
- What you like most about this item? What are your favorite features? What is it really good at? How would you describe the result?
- What do you dislike or think could be made better? What does this item not do as well? Anything confusing about how to use it or get the best results?
- Are there any “tips” or modifications you’ve figured out that make this item work better for you
Pictured below are my tools of grooming,I have a Remington trimmer, and a gillette razorI like my razors functionality, My favorite features are its smaller handle and heavy feeling. It is really good at clearing my face on the first or second go, As a result it is fair, its not a straight blade, and I can expect that the more blades the more likely hairs just get plowed over and need to be shaved again.I dislike the multiple blades, the single Trimmer blade on the back of the razor shaves better than the 4-5 main blades,. It does not shave my face on the first time, every time. There is not too many ways you could use the razor as to get confused about how to operate it,I like using the single Trimming blade on the back when I want to shave an area that I don't want razor burn, or if I need a quick shave without having to go over my face again for missed hairs.I like my trimmers. They work 80-90% on the first pass, my favorite features are its weighted feel as well as its small size. it is really good at trimming my goatee as well as maintaining my hair between barber shop visits ,, and the results, they tend to be quite good, I'm impressed,What i dislike is it cuts 80-90% the first pass, not 100%It doesn't get every hair that it passes over the first or second time, it may take 3 or more passes to successfully clip a lone hair. Nothing was confusing about the directions of use. What I would suggest to make it better is to find a way to allow it to safely cut every hair it crosses the first time, and ( because it does not clip every hair the first, nor the 2nd nor 3rd,,, the result is spotty and the clippers become very HOT and its not safe against your skin. Now take a picture of the items you don’t use regularly (zoom in enough that I can see each). For any electric items in this bunch, describe: a) what you like about this item (if anything), b) what you dislike or causes you not to use it regularly, and c) what product improvements you’d recommend to make it betterMy Wahl beard and Nose hair trimmer/ shaverI like most is the small size and the many attachments., It features a foil shaver, a beard trimmer with guards, a nose hair trimmer as well as a detailed trimmer . it is really good at having many attachments . The results are good, sometimes, if you can achieve a result. The trimmer is the only thing that will always show a result, but its sloppy.I dislike its lack of function. what it does not do well is about everything, all the attachments don't cut or shave the first time, or the second or 3rd or 4th. but when they do trim, cut or shave, it has a mild nice result.I would make it all function before putting my logo on it and selling it to trusting customers, one bad product like this was my decision when buying my Remington trimmers, why go with Wahl when they are clearly not as good as they used to be.A great product brand, great idea, horrible function.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I don't understand how I can hold a camera, razor, mirror in a shower and shave at the same time as taking pictures. This video published by Gillette is my original guide :How to: when I was looking for a sharp style. The most frustrating parts are the shaping, because you trim a little too much on one side then you need to even it up on the other side, then you will trim too much and the goatee is too small and you might as well shave it all off and start over. But every step is a good idea especially the facial scrub, after learning how people will have nasty razor burn at their bikini line because they did not clean with an antibacterial soap prior to shaving, I make sure that my face is clean before I shave to prevent infections in-case of a knick. My quality check does not have many steps other than personal opinion when I look in the mirror , i just check side to side for evenness and hope it looks good when it drys.Reflecting on the above, how satisfied are you with your routine & why? With your tools & why? With the end result & why? What needs/wishes do you have that your current routine/tools aren’t meeting – explain specifically what & why? Is there anything you could change or add in your routine that might make it better - what & why? Why haven’t you done this in the past?I like my routine, it is safe, clean and easy after my time doing it.I like my trimmer and razor, my razor just feels good in my hand, i am not scared it will slip in the shower and it has a heavy feel that makes me feel like I have better control using it , as compared to a light razor, i feel that is unsafe as it would be easy to slip it sideways ,cutting yourself. My trimmer is nice because of its smaller size, it is big enough to trim my hair if i wish, but small enough that I can use it to trim my facial hair before shaving.I like my end result, it looks clean and there is not a doubt that my self esteem matches the clean good look.I would wish that everything would work on the first try, trimmers, they are all using the same design, yet some work the first pass every time and others will not work at all,. as well as a change to my razor, I feel the more blades the more cost,,but less function, I can shave half my face with the trimmer blade on the back and not need to shave a second time for missed hairs,,, but the side that has 4-5 blades, i need to shave, then shave a second or sometimes a 3rd time to get all the hairs off that the many razors missed the first time.Is there anything i could add or change in my routine to make it better,,,, I don't think there is anything that I know of,,, i am open to suggestions, but I have tried shaving most directions, and ive tried the trimmer at different angles..hair wet/dry/- shaving in the shower seems to work the best for me vs over the sink, ,, that is a change i was told to try and it actually worked better in my view.
I won't be off work for some time but I hope this can fulfill your comment , My daily routine tends to be (trim if needed) wash my face and shave the sides and lip with a razor and soap. I am not a fan of shaving cream, maybe its the sorbitol that i happen to be allergic to, but my skin ends up red and there is always a sticky feeling afterwards or cold and burning feeling. But soap and a razor tends to clean me up well. My goatee tends to be long enough that shaving up to it is easy as not to shave off too much. This style of facial hair is low maintenance in comparison to other styles that take a good hour to carve and trim,, With a little upkeep, I can quickly be fresh and ready for my day.

Ha - first let me say I'm glad you couldn't figure out how to hold the phone in the shower! A few follow-up questions for you.
ReplyDelete- Do you ever use the Wahl product? If so, when?
- One of my bloggers who also shaves in the shower, put together a video outside of the shower. I think he propped the phone and went through the steps without actually shaving. You could also do that with still pictures. Could you take a stab at that? The actual narrative you give is important for me to read in this blog. Thanks.
Also, when you do your quality check in the mirror, if it seems uneven, do you try to fix it or just take note?
finally figured the comments out, i was only able to access them if they happen to come through to my email.
ReplyDelete--- no, i tend to not use the wahl, it functions like using a butter knife to carve a turkey,,,,, sure a butter knife will get the job done, but its not the best tool for the job.
i'll try something,,, my bathroom isn't set up to function with electronics, , , but i'll come up with a better alternative than the posted video...
Quality check, in the off day that i don't get it right or close enough, i will fix what i can, otherwise its just a few extra seconds to shave it off
Thanks. I see your explanation above in red. Can you give me an update on if you think you can do pix or a video? I will work with you on this, so please let me know what you think.
ReplyDeleteGot some pics up that show step by step. What few steps there are.
ReplyDeleteThanks for finishing this blog.
